Hello friends and neighbors,
We had great turnout and excellent discussions for the recent virtual webinars. Thank you all for attending and for those folks who could not, please check out the webinar recordings here.
The counties of the Western Slope, the National Forest Foundation and the GMUG Ranger Districts would like to encourage you to attend upcoming virtual open house events. There will be a welcome from Forest Service leadership and County Commissioners followed by an overview of the draft forest plan and alternatives. Topical breakout rooms and local staff will then be available to answer your questions and delve into greater detail. You can join a meeting virtually using ZOOM. We’ve heard from the public some concerns about timber suitability and the differences under the 2012 planning rule. Here are two helpful FAQ sheets that illustrate the processes that result in this difference, and what exactly that means for your public lands.
Note: We’ve recently become aware that one local organization is using an email address to send updates to its members for which the similarity to our own may be confusing. It confused our own staff! Though we appreciate, and in fact depend upon, external organizations to amplify the message and updates about the plan, we hope you can discern the source of the updates. Know that updates from our Forest Service planning staff will always come from a .gov address.
P.S. -- Apologies, we realized after yesterday's update that our email updates are actually coming from @public.govdelivery.com. We wish it were more simple, but it apparently takes some paying attention to know where your information is coming from!
