Nelsons Trail #672 on Mt Rosa - Workday #2

About this event

This is the second of 2 or 3 workdays on Mt. Rosa this season and we would love to have 10 volunteers for each workday.  Last season we had two successful workdays on the west side of Nelsons Trail #672.  This season we are focusing on the east side to make this difficult trail more sustainable and rideable for advanced riders.  CMTRA received a Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance grant to support this trail restoration.  We have purchased some lightweight tools for this type of trail work, and we will be providing food and drinks for all volunteers.

Volunteers will meet at the same location as the June 28, 2025 workday #1 event - at the intersection of Forest Rd. 381 and Nelsons Trail #672.  We will assemble at 1000 (10am) for a brief safety and workplan meeting, then begin a hike up the trail to the point where we left off on June 28, 2025.  There are several ways to get to the meeting location.  You can drive a 4-wheel drive vehicle, ride a plated adventure bike, or ride an un-plated dirt bike.  Please contact Tad Hershey, membership@cmtra.org, 248-909-9599(m) to confirm your participation and PLEASE register for this event.

We will be working alongside USFS trail crew members and you will be expected to bring appropriate protective equipment (e.g., eye protection, long sleeve shirts and long pants, boots and gloves).  The volunteer work involves hiking and handwork above 10,000'.  We will be trimming trees and branches, moving large rocks, shoveling dirt, and hiking up to 2 miles.  This work goes a long way to enhance our relationship with the USFS and they greatly appreciate our efforts.  Thank you for joining us!

Registration is required as we will be providing lunch and water to all volunteers.  We will also be giving away Club points and tracking volunteer hours.
