CMTRA is currently
working closely with the US Forest Service, Pikes Peak District, to
maintain trails in our area. We use grant money obtained from the State OHV
sticker fund to aid in our mission of trail maintenance and protection.
Some of the grant money is turned over to the Forest Service for
maintenance of motorized trails. We also have trail maintenance days where
club members do trail maintenance.
Here is our planned trail work for this year:
The Captain Jacks
multi-use trail system. Starting this summer we will work with the Forest
Service to develop an accurate map of all existing trails in this system.
We then plan to place signs or replace broken signs on the trails that
designate a trail as motorized or not. This summer we hope to open some new
motorized trails in the Mt.
Rosa area. Some of
this will require building new trails. We will also continue to do trail
maintenance, such as building retaining walls and clearing down fallen
trees from the trails.
The 717 multi-use trail
system near Woodland
Park sustained
considerable burn damage in the Hayman fire this past summer. We have been
actively discussing with the US Forest Service plans for rebuilding those
trails lost to the fire. Currently, the burn area is closed to the public,
but when opened we plan to be involved in the rebuilding of these trails.
We also will continue to do trail work on the open 717 trails.
We plan to have a
schedule of trail maintenance days by April or May this year. Please check
back to this website for those dates. We can use your help!
